Packing for Europe in Winter
Being from the South, it gets cold, but not like COLD. So, I had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to pack. I did a lot of reading about the weather conditions in Germany this time of year in preparation for my journey. I wanted to be warm enough, but I don’t like to be frumpy and feel like my range of motion is limited.

After much deliberation, this is what I took…
4 Sweaters – I opted for a grey, green, neutral and soft pink. They were versatile and could make numerous outfits.
4 Light weight long sleeve shirts – Just basic colors. These are your layers, so they aren’t really visable.
4 Pairs of leggings – Thin enough to wear under stuff, but still provided warmth.
2 Pairs of jeans – Since you’re wearing leggings, your jeans can last longer than usual. I took one dark and one light pair.
4 Wool/warm socks – A necessity because nobody likes to have cold toes.
4 Regular socks – Wear them under your wool socks for extra warmth.
6 Pairs of underwear – Self explanatory really. I washed halfway through my trip.
3 Bras – 1 nude, 1 regular, and 1 sport.
Scarf/gloves – I took one scarf that matched all of my outfits and a black pair of gloves.
Heavy coat – One simple coat that matches all of your outfits is really all you need. Mine was just black.
1 Pair of thermals – Some days got really cold, so I wore these as my under layer. They can also be your PJs!
2 Tank tops – I always take them because you never know when you might need them. I didn’t wear them, so feel free to leave them out.
1 Pair of waterproof boots – I had some duck boots and they worked perfect for everything we did!
Camera/Go Pro – You want to be able to capture all of your adventuring!
Macbook/chargers – Personal preference really. I used my MacBook a lot at night.
Toiletries – They should all be able to fit in a toiletries bag.
Portable charger/plug converter – Plugs in Europe are different than here in the States, so your normal electronics will not be compatible.

A lot of people have an issue with overpacking. They take outfits for everyday, plus some. Then they end up wearing the same things over and over. Its a waste of space. Pick your favorite outfits and don’t worry about adding the “just in case” outfits. Odds are you won’t experience catastrophes along your journey. If all else fails, you can always buy whatever it is you need at your destination. Most hotels have a laundry facility, so you can always have fresh clothes!
I only pack in a carry-on. It is hassle free and gets me to the fun faster! To learn more about tips for packing, check out my post here or visit my social media pages for a video tutorial!
